|
|
We have created some new boot images to test.
This is to address the issue if your system reboots right after hardware detection or as the GUI starts.
Burn either the ISO or create the two boot floppies form the images.
Boot from the CD/Boot Floppies then it will prompt for you to insert your Installation CD to continue the install.
This does not address any issues with it prompting you to remove the CD and Reboot.
The boot floppy images do not work with USB floppy drives.

As I write this post from my Version 3 Desktop, I would like to extend a vote of thanks to boylinux and the team of dedicated linux experts. Your new installation iso worked first time, like Xandros usually does. Thanks, Now I can progress down the road away from Windows. _________________ Registered Ex-Linux User #377020

Tears of joy!
Tears of joy!
Since Dec 9th, I'd been trying to install v3, falling victim to the dreaded reboot. However, this new boot disk works a real treat! Everything seems to be running fine!
My thanks to Matty for his always quick reponses to my emails (well done, Matty!)
I know I wasn't the only one with problems, and I hope all the others have the same good luck installing v3. I can assure you all that I never felt abandoned by Xandros, and I think they've done yeomen service!
All the exclamation marks !!
I must admit, I did try Fedora and Debian, Mepis and Ubuntu, but I never could figure out why not everything worked straight out like Xandros. Sound didn't work, tv wouldn't play, and other things. I'm spoiled.
Lets see. I'm watching a football game, listening to ABBA and setting up my Xandros and singing. My wife is looking at me funny! It don't get much better!
Thank you Xandros

Yay, looks like another bug bites the dust .
Please post your success or failure with this method so that we can be sure it is fixed, or that if there is another problem we can identifiy it and solve it.

Thanks Kevin for the support emails and as stated in my reply my Intel 865 equipped M/B computer is now loaded with X3 (at last) after 2 weeks of threatening to unite and axe and my computer.
I trust that a modified installation disc will be included with all new distros despatched _________________ Experience is the knowleged gained just AFTER you need it. |

| No go still. Tried it on a new laptop, andI am having to still install in VESA mode. Was this part of what the patch was supposed to help with? |

This is only for system that reboot after hardware detection.
It will not help with video issues. _________________ Kevin MacPherson

| Still no luck. I tried the CD iso, all it did was slow down the windows boot. Should i leave some space on my hard drive unallocated or format it all in FAT? |

So how do we fix the first issue below if these images do not correct this?

I think putting in a support ticket so we look at the hardware and circumstances of your issue would be in order.

And I would support what boylinux has said, get your support ticket in and they will help you as much as possible. Give them a chance 'cause I did and their latest post did the job for me.
Again Thank's people, this forum is great! _________________ Registered Ex-Linux User #377020

Thanks all anyway.
I got it fixed myself.
I had actually opened a ticket a few days earlier.
I know they are busy so after several days of waiting for replies...
Turns out it was my CD-rom drive. I had been planning on swapping for a DVD burner so I did an tried to install again thinking it was something else and the install worked flawlessly.
It did'nt have any issue reading the CD, just something funky about the firmware on the drive. |
